Description: Lick Creek is a Chilcotin classic. If you only do one ride while you are here, this is likely the one as you will get a mix of awesome single track riding and high alpine trail riding. The parking for the ride is located off the Tyaughton Lake Road and a few kilometers up a secondary forest service road. It is confusing so follow your GPS or map to get to the trail head and parking.
We have marked the trailhead a bit beyond where you will likely park (although you can park at this trailhead GPS starting point, you just need a good 4×4 to get right up to this point). It seems that the GPS track is a bit wonky on Trailforks for this trailhead and you will be turning left and climbing up at the point we have marked as the start of the ride – this might not make sense now, but it will when you are standing at the starting point.
You then climb the up into the Taylor Basin. A good place for a quick recharge is the old cabin on your left just a half kilometer before the Camel Pass Trail. Another awesome place for a rest or lunch is the top of Camel Pass… but it is often quite windy up there.
After a sweet descent from Camel Pass you have a bit more climbing up to the start of Lick Creek Trail. Have fun… this is one of the best descents in the Chilcotins.
Key trails are: Taylor Creek Trail, Camel Pass, High Trail, Lick Creek, Pearson Bench Road, Frieburg Trail
