Description: Slickrock is one of the most famous mountain bike trails in the world. For this reason alone you need to ride it. There are actually better rides in Moab, but if you only ride one trail while you are in town this is the one you have to do! Be prepared for a real mountain bike ride, it’s a hard trail… don’t expect some paved ride in the park. Slickrock is steep, relentless and really hot if you ride it in the middle of the day. If you are a beginner (we do not recommend Slickrock for beginners) or even an intermediate rider, we suggest riding the practice loop first as a test to see if you will be able to navigate the challenges of Slickrock. Despite the challenge, Slickrock is an awesome ride. The climbs are super steep, the descents are really fun and the scenery is awesome. They say the trail can be ridden in both directions, but it seems that most people ride it in a clockwise direction.
This trail will also destroy your tires, its amazing how much traction you get but also amazing how fast you wear your expensive tires down, so maybe save your fresh rubber for another day…
Note: The map below says the ride is 11 km, but the entire route is actually 14.2 km. This ride is strange… you do not cover much ground, but you will be out there for hours.
